比勒陀利亚大学（UP）在南非的行政首都比勒陀利亚，最初成立于1908年，1930年10月10日的时候成为1所独立的大学。
　　迄今为止，比勒陀利亚大学已成为南非最大的大学。现在有26000多名学生在它的11所学院139个系里接受学习，其中约有7000名研究生。学校的43个研究机构和中心也以严谨的工作提高研究的质量和产量。比勒陀利亚大学每年向南非社会输出约5500名的高质量人才。学生最多时候的数量是在1990年的20593人的基础上的26%。一方面学校吸收来自南非和世界其他国家优秀的人才，另一方面学校也尽可能地满足每个学生学习要求。学校通过为当地、南非和国际社会培养大量的高水平人才而为社会做出贡献。学校将不断优化它的教学和研究项目，并将为继续促进学生的学识、文化和个人发展而努力！
　　比勒陀利亚大学的校园约24公顷，紫葳花、热带植物和本地植物环绕在校园四周。其中最老的建筑物之一是竣工于1911年的老艺术楼。教学不仅局限于主校区，还有4个分校区。同时学校还有2个实习农场供生物专业和农业专业的学生实践。国际事务办公室（The International Affairs Office）负责管理国外学生。

申请条件

1、申请时间
申请者应该在3月1日到9月30日之间提交申请书。但是国外学生应该在6月30日前提交，以便于有时间申请相关的学生签证。
2、 申请材料
攻读本科的学生：申请者除提交申请表格外，还应该提交学历、学位、成绩单的中英文公证书及其复印件。申请工程学的学生还需要出具200-300字的证明在他毕业前最后一年的数学、物理和化学的成绩和所学内容的简介。 攻读研究生的学生：申请者除提交申请表格外，还应该提交学历、学位、成绩单（包括本科的和正在攻读研究生课程的成绩）的中英文公证书及其复印件，同时还应该附上1份300-500字的说明，介绍他在本科学习时的兴趣爱好和学术主攻方向。并且还需要3份推荐信来介绍该生的学习能力和为学校能做出贡献的潜质，推荐人要注明自己的学术地位和资格。除此之外还应该有经过南非学历学位认证委员会（SAQA）认证过的学历、学位证书。申请工程学的学生可以不在该机构认证，但是要经过南非工程委员会（ENGINEERING COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA）的评估。
3、 语言要求
TOEFL在550分以上的；或者有足够的证明证明自己接受过纯英语教学，到南非之后再接受语言测试的学生。

入学概况

1、 开课时间与学年 本科生在9月30日开课，研究生在10月15日开课。在1月的最后一个星期注册后就算1个学年的开始，一直到11月。这期间有2次短休，分别在复活节（3月21日前后）和9月份，1次长休在7月份。
2、 教学语言 英语、阿非利卡语都是比勒陀利亚大学的教学语言，或是单独或是双语教学。不会阿非利卡语的学生请注意提前查询清楚想选修的课程是否只是阿非利卡语教学，如果是请提前重新选择。
3、 住宿 申请者如果想在学校住宿应提前向校方申请，也就是在填写申请学位的表格中同时申请住宿。学校提供2种住宿，1种主要面对本科生，1种主要面对研究生。前者有一个公共食堂供应饮食，后者是在房间中带一个厨房。当然他们也可以在附近的食堂以合理的价格就餐。 学校在宿舍和公共区域提供基础设施，只是学生需要负担自己的床上用具和窗帘。
4、 学习签证 学生在进入比勒陀利亚大学学习前都要获得由南非的内务部登记过的学习签证（一般大使馆签发的学习签证都已经在内务部登记过）。一般签证是12个月，所以学生必须在签证到期前至少4周提出续签申请，学生可以在学校的国际事务办公室申请即可。
5、 费用 原来国外学生的费用一直和南非本国学生的费用一样，但是最近要发生变化。 6、医疗保险 学生需向国际事务办公室申请医疗保险。每个月费用是R125。国际事务办公室也会尽力让国外学生享受到医疗保险的利益。医疗保险计划一年年是不同的。需要注意的是医疗保险是学习签证续签的时候1个必备的资料。学生保健服务处在校园内为学生提供经验丰富、训练有素的医生和护士。学生如果在体育锻炼中或其他原因引起了病痛需要医治和照顾，都可以在学生保健服务处得到医疗。如果需要做手术可以在比勒陀利亚医学院。目前只有牙科和配药科不在服务范围内。
